Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has proposed to lay the sewer pumping main at Basin Road on 29.4.2012 said Thiru Apurva Varma, I.A.S., Managing Director.

He further stated that , Under Thiruvottriyur Sewerage Scheme, CMWSSB has proposed to lay the sewer pumping main of size 500 mm and 600 mm dia PSC pipes below the railway track near KCP factory at Basin Road on 29.4.2012. The proposed pipe laying work will be done after erecting RCC box culvert below the Railway track for a length of 30 m through which the water and sewer main will be laid.

To carry out the above work, fleet of heavy vehicles like 150 tonne crane, 100 tonne crane , 10 trailers , tractor , tipper etc., would be deployed and stationed along Basin Road upto the junction of Manali Road, Thiruvottriyur.

As a result, the vehicle movement including MTC services passing through the Basin needs to be diverted at the junction of Manali Road in the Patel Nagar Main Road on the western side and Thiruvottriyur High Road on the eastern side. The water lorries for supplying water to Thiruvottriyur area will also be diverted through Manali Oil Refinery Road. Water supply in Thiruvottriyur area may be affected for one day.

It is proposed to take up the work on 29.04.2012 and complete it on the same day from 6.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M.
