DO's |
| GENERAL |
- Use Metrowater for drinking and cooking only.
- Ensure clean environment particularly near water sump/tap
- Provide rainwater-harvesting facilities for which the guidelines are available with us
- In case the building is demolished for new construction, inform us to disconnect the service line
- Water supply through mobile lorry will be available for marriage, social functions and other purposes. on request with 3 to 15 days in advance
- Provide diaphragm chamber before the terminal chamber in case of hotels, lodges, hostels, cattle yards and community halls.
- Provide grease trap in case of automobile service stations, Petrol Pumps.

| WATER SUPPLY |
- Please rectify your Water Meter Chamber if it leaks.
- Inform us if you notice a leaky service line on the road/Storm Water Drain crossing
- Please rectify leaky plumbing systems
- In case of sump, provide ball valve to avoid overflow
- Rectify a leaky sump immediately
- Clean the sump and overhead tank periodically with extra disinfectant
- Keep your sump and overhead tank properly covered
- Maintain a minimum distance of one meter between water and sewerage amenities in your premises
- In the case of Hand Pumps please provide a platform to drain the spilling flow
- Keep the components of Bucket Pump water tight
- Use safe water for priming the hand pump if required, instead of using unsafe/waste water
- Provide wheel valve/stop cock in pressure areas
- Do consider replacing service lines once in 10 to 12 years
- Report on illegal direct motor sucking
- Please report on water pollution immediately.

| SEWERAGE |
- Provide gully, floor trap and gratings as per standards
- Fix the closet at least 0.9m (3 feet) above the road level

DONT's |
| GENERAL |
- Do not waste or misuse the water, the priceless nature's gift.
- Water is priceless and nature's gift given not to be wasted or misused
- Don't use Metrowater for car wash, gardening etc.
- Don't use Metrowater for building construction purposes

| WATER SUPPLY |
- In the case of Public Fountains the service line should not be lowered
|
| SEWERAGE |
- Never allow rainwater to enter the sewer
- Avoid use possible rodent entry into sewer
- Never throw cloths, rags, broken crockery's, cut pieces of vegetables/eatables etc. into sewer system
- Never allow heavy chemicals/paints, cements to flow into sewer system
- Do not permit puncturing of Manholes, removal of Manhole covers.
- Do not dump animal waste like cow dung etc. to enter sewer directly or indirectly
- More than 8 closets may not be put on 100mm (4 inches dia.) sewer connection. Increase the sewer size accordingly
